Job summary

UCLA Outpatient Clinics in Los Angeles is seeking a Histotechnologist II to process and stain tissue specimens for microscopic diagnosis, including H&E and special stains, and to manage workload and quality control.

Under supervision of the Histology Manager, you will embed in paraffin, section, maintain logs, collaborate with faculty and grossing personnel, work overtime, holidays, weekends and on-call as needed, and uphold safety policies in a fast-paced lab.

Responsibilities

• Process to paraffin, embeds, sections and stains tissue specimens for microscopic diagnosis and/or research.
• Perform H&E and special stains according to established protocols.
• Maintain workload, deadlines, quality control, and other logs as needed.
• Interact with faculty, residents and grossing personnel to resolve issues about work lists and orders.
• Work overtime, holidays, weekends and on-call as needed.
• Maintain a clean and properly maintained work area.
• Adhere to hospital and university policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Willingness to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
