Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Histotechnician to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologist. You will section, stain, and mount specimens, assist in examinations, and perform QA in a CLIA ’88 compliant lab.

Requirements include completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program or equivalent, with HT certification within 1 year if not ASCP certified, and relevant clinical histology experience within the last five years. On-site laboratory role in Kentucky.

Summary Job Description

Responsible to section, stain and mount tissue specimens in preparation for microscopic examination by the Pathologist. Assists the Pathologist in making various examinations on submitted tissue specimens and subsequent preparations. Performance of duties is in accordance with CLIA ’88 guidelines. Performs quality control, quality assurance, maintenance and troubleshooting. Duties may also include clerical tasks, specimen collection, and related laboratory services.

Minimum Requirements

Completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program (within the last five years if not ASCP certified) OR Associate degree that includes 12 hours in both biology and chemistry OR At least 60 semester hours, or equivalent, from an accredited institution that, at minimum, includes 12 semester hours of both biology and chemistry and 1 year of documented clinical experience in a histopathology laboratory within the last five years Once eligible, must obtain HT certification within 1 year
