Job summary

Labcorp in Syracuse, NY seeks a Histotechnician to process tissue samples and prepare slides for microscopic analysis. You will perform immunohistochemical tests, staining procedures and maintain instrument reliability in a high-volume clinical laboratory.

The role requires an associate degree in histology or related science with lab experience and a NY Histotechnician license; preferred candidates have IHC exposure and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Histology or a chemical/biological science with 1+ year clinical lab experience.
• New York State Histotechnician license required.
• Preferred: 3+ months histology and IHC experience; Histology/ASCP certifications.

Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluids for microscopic examination.
• Prepare histopathology slides from surgical specimens.
• Section tissue with a microtome and mount on slides.
• Perform immunohistochemical tests on FFPE tissue sections.
• Process sections through routine and special staining.
• Orient and embed surgical tissues.
• Prepare stains and reagents for procedures.
• Report accurate test results to support patient care.
• Operate and maintain instruments.
• Record equipment logs and perform preventive maintenance.
• Adhere to QC policies and lab procedures.
• Document problems and perform corrective actions.
