Job summary

Grand Rapids Community College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach History courses on our Grand Rapids and Lakeshore campuses, with options for in-person, online, hybrid, and virtual modalities.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s in History and demonstrate a commitment to student success, adaptive teaching, and a flexible schedule to meet semester needs. Adjunct appointments are made per semester based on course demand and department needs.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in History from an accredited institution required.
• Teaching experience at a community college preferred.
• Experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds and varying academic skills.
• Participation in professional development to remain current in the field.

Responsibilities

• Teach GRCC course offering(s) in History.
• Follow the required syllabus template.
• Meet classes during the scheduled time and for the allotted length per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• State course outcomes clearly at the beginning and state evaluation criteria.
• Promote an intellectually stimulating atmosphere conducive to high achievement and course outcomes.
• Keep accurate student academic records and report grades by deadline.
• Provide reasonable accommodations as approved by ADA.
• Follow FERPA policies and protect student privacy.
• Respond to communication promptly and provide access to course information.
