Description

Responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and supporting student success in assigned courses. Adjunct instructor positions are part-time. Teaching assignments will vary from semester to semester and are based on enrollment. Therefore, there may be semesters where no assignments are available.

Essential Functions
  • Instruction: Teach assigned English courses in accordance with the approved syllabus and learning outcomes.
  • Course Preparation: Develop lesson plans, assignments, and instructional materials aligned with departmental standards.
  • Assessment: Evaluate and provide timely, constructive feedback on student work; maintain accurate grading records.
  • Student Support: Respond to student communications, and refer students to campus support services when appropriate.
  • Classroom Management: Foster an inclusive, respectful learning environment and enforce academic integrity and conduct policies.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Submit attendance, grades, and other required documentation by established deadlines.
  • Compliance: Adhere to institutional policies, accreditation standards, and applicable federal/state regulations.
  • Adjunct instructors may also participate in limited departmental meetings or professional development activities as requested.
Minimum Qualifications

To teach all history classes candidates must have a Master degree or higher in History; Master degree or higher in another field with 6-9 graduate credits in History along with cross-disciplinary work that encompasses the discipline of history or; Master degree in Political Science with annotated transcript demonstrating how the applicable course work encompassed the discipline of History.

To teach African-American History and/or Minority Groups in America candidates must have a Master Degree or higher in African American Studies, Ethnic Studies, Indigeneity, or Native American Studies or a Master degree or higher in another field with 6-9 graduate hours in the identified disciplines.

A copy of Jackson College's Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report is available on the JC Campus Safety & Security website. The security report contains crime statistics for the previous three years for all of our campus locations and the annual fire safety report, which contains statistics for any reported fires in campus housing units and fire safety systems in these buildings. Additionally, the report contains policies, available resources and information concerning personal safety, fire safety and reporting procedures for both crimes and fires.
