National Park Service is seeking a Maintenance Worker (WG-4749-05) at Harry S Truman National Historic Site in Independence, Missouri. The role involves assisting with carpentry, painting, masonry stabilization, and grounds maintenance across historic structures and ruins.

The incumbent works under the facility manager, performing duties in varied environmental conditions with the use of protective gear, and handling heavy physical tasks up to 50 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assists higher graded workers with less complex carpentry tasks to construct and repair building features of historic structures.
• Performs painting tasks including brushes, rollers, sprayers, surface preparation, and paint/material selection for various surfaces.
• Assists masons with stabilization, maintenance and repair of historic masonry structures (adobe, brick, stone, concrete, block).
• Assists in maintenance, repair and stabilization of prehistoric and historic ruins and sites.
• Repairs and modifies wood components of historic structures.
• Performs grounds maintenance using equipment such as lawn mowers, edgers, trimmers, and leaf/snow blowers.
