Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, OH is seeking a Histology Technician/Technologist to join the Histology Laboratory on a 2nd or 3rd shift. You will process, embed, cut and stain tissue specimens for patient diagnosis using tissue processors, embedding centers, microtomes, stainers and coverslippers.

You will also assist with quality control and quality assurance records, maintain equipment, train staff as needed, and handle ordering, receiving and stocking of supplies

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Histology experience preferred.
• HT/HTL (ASCP) certification within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Processes, embeds, cuts and stains tissue specimens for patient diagnosis.
• Assists with quality control and quality assurance record keeping.
• Maintains equipment and assists with training personnel as needed.
• Assists with ordering, receiving, labeling, and stocking supplies and reagents.
• Completes and organizes paperwork; ensures proper disposal of chemical wastes.
