Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth is seeking a Histology Technician/Technologist for part-time evening shifts (32 hours/week), 12:30pm–9:00pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in Plymouth, MA. You will prepare, process, embed, cut, and stain tissue specimens for pathologist evaluation.

Requirements include a HS Diploma with AS degree preferred; HT(ASCP) certification or Bachelor's with CAP HT coursework, and completion of histology certification within 18 months.

• Experience with histology IHC and quality control procedures.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare, process, embed, cut, and stain tissue specimens for pathologist evaluation.
• Perform special stains and IHC with quality control slides.
• Accession specimens in the Pathology/Cytology LIS and electronic systems.
• Communicate specimen issues to the appropriate provider.
• Prepare GYN and Non-GYN cytology specimens and order molecular studies.
• Perform frozen sections as needed.
• Train new staff and interns in histology techniques.
• Maintain equipment, inventory, and safe work area; dispose of hazardous chemicals properly.

# Histology Technician/Technologist 32/DPlymouth, MA • Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth • Part-time • EveningShare job:Apply now**When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives.**32hpw; 8hr shifts -12:30pm-9:00pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday**Job Description:****Duties/Responsibilities: • Prepare, process, embed, cut, coverslip, stain and mount tissue specimens for evaluation and examination by the pathologist. • Perform special staining procedures, including IHC on tissue and quality control slides as requested. • Accession specimens for Pathology and Cytology in the computer. • Communicate with appropriate provider regarding specimen problems • Prepare GYN and Non-GYN cytology specimens and order molecular studies • Perform routine maintenance of equipment and instruments and keep appropriate records. • Maintain inventory, communicate ordering needs to Clinical Specialist • Maintain work area in a clean and safe manner. • Attend laboratory meetings, in-service education meetings and educational seminars as requested. • Pick up specimens regularly from all areas of hospital. • Perform frozen sections. • Train both new employees and intern staff in assigned area of expertise. • Dispose of specimens in correct manner. • Dispose of hazardous chemicals in a safe and appropriate manner.***It is understood that this is a summary of key job functions and does not include every detail of the job that may reasonably be required.***Education/Experience Required:** • HS Diploma • A.S. Degree preferred**Registration/Certification:** • HT(ASCP) certified or Bachelor's degree (meeting CAP HT minimums for credit distribution) with pathology lab experience and successful completion of histology test at time of interview and • Successful completion of histology certification within 18 months of hire.**Physical/Environmental Requirements** This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch.
