Job summary

University of Southern California’s Keck Medicine is seeking a Histology Technologist to process tissues and fluids, prepare and stain slides, and ensure timely access for pathologist interpretation. The role supports the USC Verdugo Hills Hospital campus in the Foothills area of Los Angeles, backed by an academic medical center.

Minimum education includes an AA/AS degree preferred; one year in an acute care setting and three years of histology training are expected.

Qualifications

• One year experience in an Acute Care Facility setting.
• Three years clinical training in an approved Histology Training Program.
• ASCP Certification preferred but not required.

Job description

The Histology Technologist is responsible for processing all tissues and fluids submitted to the Pathology service, preparing/staining tissue slides and assuring they are available in a timely manner for Pathologist review and interpretation.

Minimum Education:

An AA or AS degree in a related field preferred, but not required.

Minimum Experience/Knowledge:

One year experience in an Acute Care Facility setting and 3 years clinical training in an approved Histology Training Program. Prior experience to include: specialized stains, cutting, embedding, computer experience, quality control, QC evaluation, inventory control, preventative maintenance and quality improvement.

Required License/Certification:

Valid Histology ASCP Certification preferred, but not required.

The hourly rate range for this position is $38.70 - $50.08.
