Job summary

Antech Diagnostics is seeking a Histology Laboratory Technician to perform analyses, prepare samples, and interpret results in a high-volume setting. The role requires embedding tissue samples, running stains, and maintaining equipment in accordance with SOPs.

We offer a night shift from Thursday to Monday with training and competitive hourly pay of $27.31. Strong attention to detail and proficiency with lab instruments are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Laboratory techniques and proper handling of lab equipment.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and histology procedures.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in English with accurate data entry into systems.

Responsibilities

• Embed samples by orienting tissues in molds and applying paraffin wax.
• Embed up to 60 blocks per hour and scan barcoded cassettes in the worklist.
• Maintain embedding station per SOPs and protocols.
• Meet minimum department production goals and prioritize stat blocks.
• Calibrate and run QC; assist with routine maintenance of machines.
• Follow SOPs, ensure safety and maintain a clean work area.
• Cross-train across multiple lab specialties and participate in process improvements.

Work Shift: Thursday to Monday 1am to 9:30am

Training Tuesday to Saturday 9am to 5:30pm

The Target Pay for this position is $27.31 an hour. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.

Job Purpose/Overview

The Histology Laboratory Technician performs laboratory analyses and tests.In addition, they preparesamples, set up instruments, runtestsinterpret,andreleasetestresults.

• Provide qualityembedding, accurately embed a minimum of up to 60 blocks per hour, unloading Tissue Processer, scan barcoded cassette inAntrim fortheappropriate worklist
• Maintain embedding station asrequiredper Standard Operating Procedure and accepted protocols
• Meetminimumdepartmentproduction goals
• Prioritize stat and manifest blocks
• Reconcile all Antrim pending list for any work completed
• Operate Roche Benchmark special stain instrument
• Perform manual stains asrequired
• Calibrate and run Quality Control on the machines andassistwith daily,weekly,and monthly maintenance of the machines.
• Exercisesjudgment in evaluating and reporting results.
• Report any technical/QC problems to their lead tech or supervisor.
• Crosstrainanddevelop knowledge of multiple specialties within department/lab
• Follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), including safety and quality procedures
• Maintains clean and organized workarea.Restockssupplies as needed.
• Participates in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation
• Consult with senior peers on non-complex tasks to learn through experience.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required,B.S in Biology or Life Sciences preferred.

• Laboratory skills, with experience setting up, running and operating labinstruments

Working Conditions

• Stationary Position- must be able toremain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours.
• Constantlyoperates a computer and other lab equipment accurately and efficiently.
• Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch
• May berequiredto lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs.

• Laboratoryenvironmentswith potential biohazards present that are mitigated by the mandatory use of PPE.
