Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking a Histology Technician for Evanston Hospital in Illinois. The role involves processing tissues, embedding, microtomy, recuts, special stains, and cryotomy of skin specimens.

Education in laboratory science with histology training is required, plus HT/HTL ASCP certification or eligibility. The position is full-time with early hours Monday–Friday, offering premium pay and growth opportunities within a large integrated health system.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Laboratory Science with histology training.
• HT/HTL ASCP certification or eligible.
• 1 year histology lab experience preferred.
• Ability to perform manual embedding and microtomy of paraffin blocks.

Responsibilities

• Process tissues using Xpress microwave rapid tissue processor.
• Embed tissue manually and with Sakura Auto TEK embedder.
• Perform microtomy of paraffin-embedded tissue blocks.
• Recuts of tissue blocks.
• Perform special stains.
• IF cryotomy of skin specimens.

Hourly Pay Range:

$28.47 - $42.71 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate’s expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

• Position: Histology Technician
• Location: Evanston Hospital
• Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
• Hours: Monday-Friday, 5:30am-2pm, e/o weekend and rotating holidays

What you will do:

• Processing tissues using Xpress microwave rapid tissue processor
• Embedding: Manual and Automated using Sakura Auto TEK embedder
• Microtomy of paraffin embedded tissue blocks both manual and auto embedded
• Recuts of tissue blocks
• Special Stains
• IF cryotomy of skin specimens

What you will need:

• Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Laboratory Science and Histology routine training or Completed accredited Histology Technology program.
• Certification: HT/HTL Certificate (ASCP), equivalent or eligible.
• Experience: 1 year experience in Histology Laboratory preferred
• Unique or Preferred Skills: Ability to perform manual embedding and microtomy of paraffin embedded tissue blocks.
