Sanford Health in Marshfield, WI is hiring a part-time Histology Technician to prepare tissue specimens for routine and special examinations. You will perform embedding, microtomy, staining, and slide quality checks while maintaining instruments and following safety and QA standards.

Associates degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences is required. Eligibility for HT certification with ASCP or equivalent, with certification within twelve months of hire, is expected.

• Associates degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences required.
• Possess a national certification as a Histology Technician from an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency (e.g., ASCP) or be registry-eligible and obtain HT certification within 12 months.

Work Shift: Three days one week, two days the following week.
Job Summary
Receives and prepares tissue specimens for routine and special examinations. Performs complex histological procedures using techniques to gross, embed, perform microtomy, and stain to make tissue slides used for diagnosis. Responsible to review slide quality. Maintains and repairs lab instruments. Disinfects work area and stocks supplies. Ensures all lab safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met. Will work with self-discipline and good judgment while following established standards of practice. Will be responsible for performing routine duties in all areas of the Histology Laboratory. May be required to interact with all ages of client population. Recognize responsibilities of other laboratory and health care personnel and interact with respect for their jobs and patient care. Keep abreast of new procedures in the department as well as changes in general hospital policy and procedures.
