Job summary

GW Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a Histology Technician to prepare tissue specimens for diagnosis and support pathology teams with labeled, quality-controlled slides. The ideal candidate holds a histology course, a biology background and ASCP certification eligibility, and embraces a collaborative, fast-paced academic medical center environment.

The role works closely with pathology residents, fellows and attendings to ensure accurate, timely results for patient care, with opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in applied clinical science with a course in Histology or equivalent training/experience.
• Two years of experience in a Histology laboratory desirable.
• Certification or eligibility for certification as Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) by ASCP.

Responsibilities

• Prepares tissue specimens for diagnosis by Pathologist.
• Works with Pathology residents, fellows and attendings to meet the needs of the clinicians and patients.
