Under the supervision of the divisional Laboratory Director or Manager, the Laboratory Supervisor provides clinical and technical supervision of staff medical laboratory technologists and technicians to satisfy daily testing demands and department operations. The Supervisor coordinates and oversees all staff activities in core and/or specialty laboratory areas, and maintains standards in accordance with department, hospital, and regulatory agency requirements. The Supervisor serves as a communication link between medical staff, nursing, and the laboratory, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other practitioners on special or difficult patient cases. The supervisor may perform in a clinical capacity when necessary to perform bench testing, and must be able to fulfill all duties of a histotechnician/histotechnologist.
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
