Job summary

NeoGenomics Laboratories in Houston, TX is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for Histology. This entry-level position supports the department technologist in basic lab procedures and handling samples, with a Monday-Friday shift 9:00pm-5:30am.

You will record data in logs, prepare reagents under supervision, maintain equipment, manage inventory, and uphold safety and quality standards in a biohazard environment. No certification required; lifting up to 50 pounds may be needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; emphasis on science courses preferred.
• Experience in a similar capacity preferred.
• Basic understanding of laboratory techniques preferred.
• General knowledge of MS Office programs.
• Effective communication skills and strong organization skills.
• Detail oriented and willingness to work independently.
• Must be able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment and maintain production and quality standards.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Record information in laboratory logs and sheets for quality assurance.
• Operate equipment, print labels, record data, and manage sample storage.
• Prepare reagents under supervision of a certified technologist.
• Maintain clean lab and equipment; perform housekeeping tasks.
• Assist with inventory and ordering of supplies.
• Dispose biohazardous material according to procedures.
• Support quality improvement and safety programs.
• Communicate issues to supervisor to ensure timely resolution.
