Job summary

CellNetix Pathology & Laboratories is seeking a Lab Assistant I to provide general support to technologists, technicians and pathologists, ensuring smooth workflow in the department. Responsibilities include processing specimens, accessioning, and maintaining PPE and HIPAA compliance.

The role involves assisting with histology case preparation, slide distribution, and equipment operation in a fast-paced clinical lab environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate/Bachelor degree with biology/chemistry/anatomy emphasis preferred.
• Prior clinical lab or medical setting experience preferred.
• Proficient in basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, correlate and quality check histology cases.
• Distribute completed slides to pathologists.
• File un-stained slides and tissue blocks.
• Operate, load, rotate, clean and maintain processors.
• Operate staining instrumentation and perform routine maintenance.
• Prepare reagents and recycling tasks.
• Use internal company software applications.
• Restock supplies as needed; manage hazardous waste.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The responsibility of Lab Assistant I is to provide general assistance to technologists/technicians and pathologists to ensure smooth workflow for the entire department. Responsibilities may include obtaining information from various departments, processing and/or accessioning different types of specimens and providing administrative and organizational support to the department. Due to various environmental hazards presented in the workplace such as formalin, communicable disease, fresh human tissue, etc., employees must adhere to HIPAA standards and strict Standard Operating Procedures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

Position Schedule

M-F, 11am - 7:30pm

Essential Duties

• Assemble, correlate and quality check completed histology cases
• Distribute completed slides to all pathologists
• File un-stained slides/tissue blocks
• Change, load, rotate, clean, and maintain processors
• Change, load, rotate, clean, and maintain staining instrumentation
• Reagent preparation and recycling
• Utilize company's internal software applications
• Restock supplies as needed
• Hazardous waste control
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Experience

• Minimum High school graduate
• Associates or Bachelors degree with emphasis in biology/chemistry/anatomy preferred
• Prior clinical medical setting or laboratory experience preferred
• Basic computer program & application skills
• Customer service experience.
