Avera is hiring a Histology Lab Support role to assist with grossing specimens, processing decisions, and specimen handling. You will help prepare samples, ensure proper labeling, and support technicians in a busy hospital lab environment.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required or equivalent.
• Experience in a clinical lab setting preferred but not required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.

• Assist PA or Pathologist with grossing specimens.
• Ensure correct labeling and entry of specimen data.
• Support histology staff with routine tasks and housekeeping duties.

Work where you matter.A Brief OverviewAssists other personal in the Histology Lab by assisting with gross, determining appropriate processing of tissue, accessioning specimens, verbal and electronic communication with customers, and perform any other non-technical duties when asked by the technical staff and or supervisor.What you will doAssists PA or Pathologist with grossing specimen. Make proper determination of process technique and pre-processing times and solutions.Accessions specimens into to the system. Label specimen correctly, fill out grossing sheet with correct information, and label cassettes correctly.Identifies and resolves routine specimen acceptability and test order problems. Refers incomplete patient information or non-routine identified problems to appropriate individuals for problem resolution.Performs miscellaneous tasks including but not limited to: specimen filing, sending reference lab specimens, and disposal of tissueAssists the technical and support staff with other duties as needed.Assists with receiving and distribution of supplies associated with the processing area.Assists with analysis, collection and maintenance of records as required by regulatory agencies and/or federal, state of local law.Performs housekeeping duties to ensure work area is clean and orderly.Essential QualificationsThe individual must be able to work the hours specified.
