Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Histologist for a full-time day shift (3:00am start with rotating weekends every 5 weeks) to provide timely surgical pathology services. Responsibilities include accessioning, embedding, microtomy, and staining on various sample types.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelor's degree in histology is preferred, and one year of healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in histology preferred.
• One year healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accession specimens and prepare blocks.
• Embed, microtome, and stain slides.
• Perform H&E, special stains, and IHC stains.
• Assist in cytology and frozen section procedures.
• Maintain LIS entries and generate reports.
