Job summary

Cloudsufi is seeking an experienced Kotlin Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable backend systems and microservices in a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment. You will work within an agile, cross-functional team, taking ownership of critical infrastructure that handles high-throughput workloads.

You will work with Spring Boot or Ktor, Docker and Kubernetes, and collaborate with Product, Frontend, and Data Scientists to translate complex requirements into robust technical solutions.

Qualifications

• 4 to 8 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong focus on backend system development.
• Deep understanding of Kotlin coroutines, modern asynchronous programming, and JVM performance optimization.
• Solid practical experience designing, securing, and operating distributed services natively on Google Cloud Platform.
• Proven track record of building and integrating RESTful APIs, gRPC, and event-driven microservices architectures.
• Experience deploying and managing containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Excellent debugging skills and a systematic approach to troubleshooting complex distributed system issues.

• Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust, high-performance, and scalable backend services using Kotlin and frameworks like Spring Boot or Ktor.

• System Design & Scale: Architect fault-tolerant distributed systems to handle thousands of concurrent requests with low latency and high availability.
• Data Engineering & Storage: Optimize data storage and retrieval with relational (Cloud SQL/PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Firestore, MongoDB) databases, plus Redis caching.
• Code Quality & Mentorship: Drive engineering best practices, conduct rigorous code reviews, ensure test coverage, and mentor junior engineers.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Frontend, and Data Scientists to translate complex requirements into scalable technical solutions.
