Job summary

DirectShifts is seeking a Hematology & Oncology physician to join NYC Health + Hospitals onsite at Elmhurst. This per diem role runs 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, 3–5 days per week, with primarily clinic and infusion center duties.

You will diagnose, treat, and manage hematologic and oncologic conditions in inpatient and outpatient settings, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Requires MD or DO, NY license, and board certification or eligibility.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Minimum 3 years of experience preferred.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology and Oncology.
• Active or eligible New York State medical license.
• Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Experience with diverse and underserved patient populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• 10–12 patients per shift
• Infusion patient volume varies depending on staffing
• Mostly new consults vs follow-ups
• Approximately 70% oncology / 30% haematology patient population
• Dedicated infusion center: Yes
• Provider may work across clinic and infusion center floors depending on assignment
• Outpatient panels: 2–4 hours per day
• Work includes infusion center coverage and clinic coverage
• Primarily clinic-based
• Call / Overtime
• No call required
• No overtime
