Job summary

Via Student Transit is seeking local drivers in the Richmond area to transport students to and from school using your own vehicle. Earn up to $32/hour for scheduled driving hours, plus a $300 New Driver Bonus, with flexible sessions that fit your schedule.

You'll have live support on the road, and you'll help families get kids to school safely each day while managing fuel, maintenance, and insurance costs. Requirements include a valid license, age 25+, and a safe driving history.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 25 years old.
• Valid U.S. driver's license.
• Minimum 5 years of unrestricted U.S. driving history.
• Personal vehicle (4 doors, ≤10 years) that passes a safety inspection.
• Active personal auto insurance.
• Smartphone compatible with the Via Driver App.
• Ability to pass fingerprint background check, drug screening, and MVR check.

Responsibilities

• Drive scheduled student transportation routes using your own vehicle.
• Ensure student safety and timeliness of arrivals.
• Follow Via Driver App routing and directions.
• Maintain vehicle safety and comply with program requirements.
• Cover assigned shifts and manage fuel costs.

Requirements to be a Via Driver Partner:

• Be at least 25 years old
• Valid U.S. driver's license
• Minimum 5 years of unrestricted U.S. driving history
• A qualifying personal vehicle (4 doors, no older than 10 years, able to pass a safety inspection)
• Active personal auto insurance
• Smartphone compatible with the Via Driver App
• Ability to pass:
  • Fingerprint-based background check
  • Drug screening
  • Motor vehicle record check

What to Expect:

• Typical driving hours: Two 2-4 hour shifts are available each weekday; AM shifts vary between 6:30-9:30 AM and afternoon shifts vary between 2:00-5:00 PM.
• Hourly pay applies only to scheduled and completed driving hours
• You will be driving your own vehicle, and this must meet all local program and safety requirements.
• Driver Partners are responsible for fuel, maintenance, and personal auto insurance costs.
