Job summary

CalArts Community Arts Partnership seeks a CAP Assistant Instructor to support an 8-week hip-hop dance residency for youth (TK-12) at CAP partner sites in the Montebello Unified School District. You will work with lead instructors, students, teachers, and staff, reporting to the CAP Program Manager, John Holmgren.

CAIs teach multiple classes daily, with up to 4 hours per day and additional hours for trainings, prep, and planning.

Qualifications

• Interest in teaching K-12 students and working with youth.
• Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
• Experience with artmaking tools and software varies by artform.

Responsibilities

• Assist CAP lead instructor in teaching 8-week hip-hop dance residencies.
• Create a safe, inclusive learning environment for students.
• Set up/break down equipment and keep supplies stocked.
• Attend trainings, meetings and site visits.
• Support exhibitions or student work presentations.
• Log hours promptly and respond to communications from CAP staff.
