Job summary

JumpStart Games is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to oversee and assist with compiling, processing, and maintaining patient records and forms in compliance with regulatory requirements.

You will handle record requests, verify authorizations, and retrieve data from EHR systems to support accurate reporting and audits.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required.
• Two years experience in medical records environment including filing, data entry and audit processing.
• Must have good communication, grammar and spelling skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Description

Summary/Objective: Oversees and assists with compiling, processing, and maintaining medical records and forms of clinic patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care system.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrates understanding of the medicolegal implications and responsibilities related to the release of patient health information.
• Oversees and assists with the Processing of requests for patient medical record information and forms by ensuring receipt of proper signed patient authorization, extracting only material pertinent to the request and obtaining physician approval or signature as necessary pursuant to department policy and Florida law.
• Responds to incoming calls and requests (primarily provider offices and insurance companies).
• Retrieves information from EHR to respond to requests for records and process reports and/or audits.
• Verifies completeness of each request necessary by one or all of the following methods: paper chart and all electronic systems: EpicCare EHR, Epic's Patient Portal - MyChart, and athenaIDX
• Verifies only information authorized patient is released.
• Verifies reports have been signed by appropriate provider prior to release.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent required (GED may be equivalent). Two years previous experience to include filing, data entry and audit processing in medical records environment

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Must possess and demonstrate good communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Must possess proper grammar and accurate spelling skills. Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision, with an ability to exercise judgment and discretion. Must have basic knowledge of Windows-based computer applications. Must have accurate keyboard skills. Must be detail oriented. Must possess professional manner.
