Qualifications

• One year of previous experience in a Health Care HIM Department is preferred.
• Demonstrates ability to establish effective working relationships and communication with peers, patients, families, providers, and hospital staff.
• Maintains a hospital-wide perspective and serves on department/hospital committees.

STATUS: Full-Time: 40 hours per week

HOURS: Day shift. Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands; Low census may be utilized in accordance with hospital policy.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Health Information Management Department Manager, assembles and analyzes inpatient and outpatient records daily, maintains health information management integrity through scanning and retrieving confidential patient records; answers telephone and responds to customer requests; Performs release of information requests as well as various other clerical duties.

QUALIFICATIONS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• 1. High School Graduate or equivalency, required.
• 2. Certification in HIT, preferred.
• 2. Medical Terminology course, required.
• 3. Anatomy and physiology course, preferred.
• 5. Proficiency in software applications that include, but are not limited to EMR software application, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, required.
• 6. One year previous experience in Health Care HIM Department, preferred.
