Job summary

Liebherr-America, Inc. is offering an Engineering Intern position in Newport News, VA. The role supports mining equipment engineering tasks and collaborates with engineers, designers, and production staff on projects outlined in the intern training plan.

Ideal candidates are current or recently graduated students with 60 hours toward an Engineering Bachelor’s degree, willing to travel nationally up to 20% for training, and able to obtain MSHA hazard training and a valid driver’s license.

Job description

The Engineering Intern performs basic engineering functions in support of mining equipment.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties:

• Works with the Engineering staff on projects outlined in the individualized intern training plan.
• Works independently and as a team member with other Engineers, Designers, and production personnel or on ad hoc projects.

Competencies

Education and Experience:

Current or Recently Graduated student in good standing who has complete 60 hours towards a related Engineering Bachelor’s degree.

Additional Requirements:

Is expected to travel nationally up to 20% to customer or supplier sites for some training plans.
Ability to complete and maintain mine certifications or safety training such as Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) hazard training.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
