Job summary

GFT is seeking a Highway Project Manager for our New Jersey offices, with a hybrid work model requiring regular attendance in East Brunswick, Morristown, or Marlton. The role focuses on roadway and bridge projects, traffic engineering, and resilient, multimodal design to improve community connectivity.

You will lead full project lifecycles, supervise design tasks, manage scopes and budgets, coordinate with clients and subconsultants, and help prepare proposals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • NJ PE licensure or eligibility within 3–6 months.
  • Minimum 10+ years of highway design experience.
  • Experience with project management tasks and budgets.
  • NJ client/subconsultant relationships preferred.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, NJDOT, NJTA standards.
  • Proficiency in OpenRoads or Civil 3D.
  • Strong written and oral communication; writing samples may be requested.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full project lifecycle from concept through construction support.
  • Supervise roadway design tasks under various contract types.
  • Develop scopes, cost proposals, progress reports, budgets, and schedules.
  • Prepare plans, reports, specs, estimates, and bid packages.
  • Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, and external stakeholders.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage project tasks.
  • Assist in writing proposals and pursue new work.
  • Ensure projects comply with GFT’s Quality Management System.
  • Foster New Jersey client relationships.

GFT is seeking a Highway Project Manager for our New Jersey offices. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our East Brunswick, NJ, Morristown, NJ or Marlton, NJ office.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:


  • Managing full project lifecycle including conceptual development through final design and construction support

  • Supervise engineering design tasks for roadway projects on both traditional design/bid/build and design/build contracts

  • Develop scopes of work and cost proposals, prepare progress reports, and manage budgets and schedules

  • Develop plans, reports, specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages

  • Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, and external stakeholders

  • Manage projects and tasks with multi-disciplined teams

  • Assist in writing proposals

  • Manage projects in accordance with GFT’s Quality Management System

  • Foster New Jersey client relationships


What You’ll Bring To Our Firm


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in New Jersey, or eligible to obtain New Jersey PE licensure through reciprocity within 3 to 6 months.

  • Minimum of 10+ years of related highway design experience

  • Exposure to project management tasks, including preparing scope/fee, developing progress reports, and budget and schedule management

  • New Jersey client, subconsultant, and external stakeholder relationships

  • Familiarity with AASHTO, NJDOT, and NJTA standards

  • Hands on experience using the latest CADD/Design Software (OpenRoads or Civil 3D) required

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Writing samples may be requested for this position.


Compensation

The range for this position is salary range is $130,000-$180,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
