Job summary

The candidate should have a ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil Engineering, 5–10 years of experience, and proficiency in OpenRoads and MicroStation. Field exposure and PE licensure are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience in discipline-specific design software (OpenRoads, MicroStation) is required.
  • Proficiency in OpenRoads 3D Modeling and MicroStation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design transportation improvements for roadways, interchanges, intersections, sidewalks and trail projects.
  • Analyze survey data, maps, drawings and topographic data to plan projects.
  • Perform design computations and prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Prepare project documents for advertisement and construction with contract plans and specs.
  • Coordinate with clients and internal teams to meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Direct sub-consultants and internal design staff as needed.
  • Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders to scope and monitor projects.

Job description

Position Summary

The position will be responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision.

Compensation for this position is $100,000.00 – $130,000.00, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. We notice that we receive a wide variety of applicants and recognize that the person selected may be less experienced or more experienced. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Design transportation improvements for roadways, interchanges, intersection improvements, sidewalks, and trail projects
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects
  • Perform design computations
  • Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
  • Develop construction cost estimates
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction including contract plans and specifications
  • Involvement in project and task decisions pertaining to scoping, budgeting and monitoring.
  • Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders
  • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
  • Direct project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines
  • Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work
  • Quality review of project design in accordance with the Project Management Plan
  • Technical oversight and guidance/support of Design Engineers within department

Required Skills

Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • 5-10 years’ experience in specialized discipline
Qualifications Preferred
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
