Qualifications

• 7 years of work experience in materials and construction that includes materials testing.
• Successful completion of the ND Dept of Transportation Bituminous Certification Program.

Responsibilities

• Manage field lab and survey equipment, inventory, calibration, and approvals.
• Oversee sampling and testing procedures; ensure compliance with NDDOT, AASHTO, and ASTM standards.
• Provide technical guidance on materials selection, testing, and problem resolution.
• Conduct quality assurance activities, including independent assurance testing and FHWA certification.
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, districts, and lab supervisors.
• Inspect precast concrete plants and support maintenance programs (Micro Surfacing, Slurry Seal).
• Support design coordination, materials recommendations, and timely project documentation.
• Lead research on materials, construction methods, intelligent construction technologies, and specifications.
• Collaborate with universities, research groups, and pooled fund programs.
• Develop training, policies, and documentation related to lab operations and materials testing.

NDDOT Starting Salary: $7,826 / month

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with a major in construction management, construction engineering, or civil engineering and three years of experience in materials and construction, including materials testing; or
• Associates degree in a related field, and five years of experience in materials and construction that included materials testing; or
• 7 years of work experience in materials and construction that included materials testing.
• Successful completion of the ND Dept of Transportation Bituminous Certification Program or equivalent.
• ND Class D driver's license

Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and background check.
