Job summary

DCS Asset Maintenance is seeking a skilled Highway Maintenance Technician to perform road and drainage upkeep, brush clearing, pavement patching, and other related tasks in Covington, Virginia. Training will be provided as needed to work under supervision in highway maintenance operations.

The successful candidate will have a High School diploma or equivalent, be at least 18, hold a valid driver’s license with a clean record, and be able to work in adverse weather and lift moderately heavy

• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and lift moderately heavy objects.
• Physical stamina to bend, climb, stand, stoop, or walk for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Clean and clear culverts.

• Patching broken or eroded pavements and shoulders.
• Assist in storm cleanup.
• Fence and sign repair.
• Litter/debris removal.
• Operate equipment used in Highway Maintenance.

Job Description

DCS Asset Maintenance is seeking a skilled Highway Maintenance Technician to conduct a variety of Highway Maintenance Services, as well as other related tasks under close supervision. We are seeking a qualified applicant that will train in Highway/Roadway Routine Maintenance.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

• Clean and clear culverts.
• Mowing, and clearing brush from roadsides.
• Patching broken or eroded pavements and shoulders.
• Assist in storm cleanup.
• Fence and sign repair.
• Litter/debris removal.
• Emergency response.
• Operate equipment used in Highway Maintenance.
• Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, etc.
• Use power tools such as chainsaws, pole saws, weed eaters, backpack blowers, etc.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.

EXPERIENCE:

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of clean driving.
• Ableto work in adverse weather conditions.
• Able to lift moderately heavy objects.
• Be able to bend, climb, stand, stoop, or walk for long periods of time.
• Accurate eye-hand coordination.
• Ability to adapt to changing situations with work plans and work schedules due to workload or season display.
