Job summary

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in Miami is seeking a Highway Maintenance Technician II in the South Dade district. The role involves operating vehicles and equipment, performing inspections, and maintaining roadways and bridges.

A CDL instructional permit/license is required within a set timeframe and a valid Class E license is mandatory with CDL progression. Applicants must meet CDL and driver history requirements, undergo drug screening, and be prepared to work emergency

Qualifications

• Knowledge of typical construction measuring tools, equipment and safety techniques.
• Skills in operating a variety of hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and understand job-related materials and fill out reports.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of vehicles and mechanized equipment (e.g., backhoe, tractors).
• Perform pre-trip inspections and minor maintenance on vehicles/equipment.
• Maintain bridges and roadways and perform temporary traffic control as needed.
• Perform rough carpentry, masonry, painting and signage work.
