Job summary

The Oregon Department of Transportation seeks a Highway Maintenance Coordinator to lead road maintenance crews, oversee repairs and reconstructions, and ensure safety and compliance across projects. You will monitor work quality, train staff, and coordinate payroll and reporting while supporting emergency responses and on‑call duties.

Must have three years of maintenance experience, a CDL-A with tanker endorsement or ability to obtain, and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

  • Three years of maintenance or construction experience in roadway, highway, bridge, sign, drawbridge, or landscape.
  • A valid CDL-A with tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within required timeframes.
  • A valid driver license and a clean driving record; pre-employment checks will be conducted.
  • Federal FMCSA guidance changes may affect CDL eligibility; refer to FMCSA guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prioritize, and assign work based on materials, equipment, and staff resources.
  • Monitor and inspect work activities for permit compliance.
  • Train employees on safety, time reporting, and incident reporting.
  • Coordinate emergency responses and return-to-work processes.
  • Assist with scheduling, appraisals, and onboarding of new hires.
