Job summary

Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking a Highway Construction Technician I/II to join our Wayne, Nebraska team. The role trains you to perform inspection duties on highway construction projects, including surveying, materials testing, and ROW staking, under direct supervision.

Successful candidates will receive CDL training, potential pay differentials for CDL duties, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience in surveying, materials testing, or field inspections.
• Associate's degree or equivalent coursework in civil engineering technology or related field.
• Must be at least 18 and have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection duties on highway construction projects.
• Conduct preliminary surveying, construction surveying, and ROW staking.
• Sample and test construction materials and document daily contractor work.
• Learn to read and interpret highway construction and bridge plans.
