Qualifications

  • Must be certified, licensed, or accredited in assigned state or by a trade organization.
  • Knowledge and/or certifications in safety, prints and drawings, rigging, signaling, scaffolding, oxyfuel, concrete/mason tending, rod tying, and grading required.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Pass a drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students in Advanced Highway Heavy Construction topics and skills.
  • Promote a positive atmosphere to enhance student motivation and learning.
  • Individualize curriculum to fit student vocational choices.
  • Prepare reports such as student evaluations and staff hours.
  • Collaborate with coordinators to identify work-based learning partners.

Salary Range: $47,000 to $50,000

Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Advanced Highway Construction Pre Apprentice Instructor performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area.
    • Instructor will teach Highway Heavy Construction leaving students with skill sets in rigging and signaling, print reading highway, erecting scaffolding several stories high, concrete, mason tending as well as the ability to obtain 7 industry recognized credentials in Highway Heavy Construction.
  • The Advanced Highway Construction Pre Apprentice Instructor promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation and learning; counsels and motivates students regarding behavior, training, and/or study habits.
  • Individualizes Advanced Highway Construction Pre Apprentice curriculum to fit the students choice of vocation and maintains contact with vocational counselors and instructors.
  • Prepares reports such as student/staff hours, requisitions, and monthly student evaluations.
  • Work collaboratively with BCL-WBL Coordinator to implement the School to Career / Work-Based Learning Program as well as identify possible new Work Based Learning site partners.
Qualifications
  • Certified, licensed, or accredited in the state in which the center is located, or is accredited by a professional trade organization.
  • Applications should have knowledge and/or certifications in the following concepts:
    • Safety
    • Prints and Drawings
    • Rigging; Signaling
    • Scaffolding
    • Oxyfuel
    • Concrete/Mason tending
    • Rod Tying; Grading
  • Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.
