Carnegie is seeking a Project Manager to lead architectural projects for higher education clients from campus planning through construction. You will serve as the primary liaison with clients, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery while coordinating internal teams and external consultants.

The role balances project architect responsibilities with technical leadership, offering opportunities to shape the student experience through design within a collaborative, small-firm environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from a NAAB-accredited program.
  • 10+ years of experience on commercial projects in the United States; higher education experience required.
  • Registered U.S. Architect; NCARB certification; LEED® AP desired.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license for travel; travel within the United States ~30–50%.

Responsibilities

  • Leads architectural projects for higher education clients across the country from planning to construction.
  • Acts as primary liaison with clients to ensure satisfaction, timely delivery, and budget alignment.
  • Prepares and manages project proposals and AIA contracts; develops preliminary budgets.
  • Coordinates consultants and internal teams; oversees design through construction.
  • Executes QA/QC, BIM standards, and design documentation per project.
  • Mentors staff and fosters a collaborative studio culture in various work environments.
