Job summary

The University of Florida on the Main Campus (Gainesville, FL) seeks a High Voltage Tech II to join the FS-UTILITIES-ELECTRICITY team on a staff full-time basis. You will progress in the CPP until Level 4, perform PMI and preventive maintenance for outdoor lighting, substations, and distribution equipment, and support high voltage switching operations.

Required are a high school diploma, NCCER Core within 6 months, and NCCER Electrician certification or equivalent licensure.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and four years of electrical work experience; training may substitute for experience.
  • NCCER Core to be completed within 6 months.
  • Currently NCCER Certified Plus Electrician or Licensed Electrician or NCCER Knowledge Verification required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain fixtures and perform lighting PMI for on-campus lighting systems.
  • Perform PMI tests on switches, transformers, and distribution equipment.
  • Operate and maintain equipment including bucket truck and hoists.
  • Prepare records of routine maintenance and repairs; repair wiring and circuits.
  • Assist in installing conduits and cable pulls for primary/secondary systems.
  • Perform switching of high voltage feeders and assist higher-level technicians.
