Job summary

Koch Engineered Solutions, LLC. seeks a High Voltage Substation Superintendent to lead field execution of HV substation, transmission, and interconnection scopes on large-scale power infrastructure projects within our Project Delivery Team.

You will oversee subcontractors and drive safe, compliant, and high-quality HV work from site prep through testing and energization, coordinating with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver critical power projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• HV electrical systems experience in substations or transmission.
• Experience coordinating with subcontractors and enforcing contract scope.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and specifications.
• Valid driver's license; proficiency with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the full HV construction lifecycle from site marking to energization readiness.
• Ensure safety, environmental, and quality standards across all HV scopes and project phases.
• Develop and enforce a 3-week lookahead schedule for HV activities and align with milestones.
• Maintain schedule, budget, and contract compliance while identifying risks.
• Verify subcontractor work aligns with drawings, specs, and contract requirements.
• Provide daily progress reports on risks and subcontractor performance to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Civil, Mechanical, and PV Electrical teams to optimize sequencing and minimize delays.

We are seeking a High Voltage Substation Superintendent to lead field execution of high-voltage (HV) substation, transmission, and interconnection scopes on large-scale power infrastructure projects within our Project Delivery Team.

In this role, you will oversee subcontractors and own the safe, compliant, and high-quality execution of HV work from initial site preparation through testing, commissioning, and energization. You will drive schedule performance, ensure contract alignment, and lead field teams to successfully deliver critical power infrastructure projects.

Compensation

$130,000 - $160,000 (flexible based on experience)

What You Will Do

• Lead and manage subcontractors executing high-voltage substation and transmission work (foundations, electrical, SCADA integration, etc.), ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality installation
• Oversee the full HV construction lifecycle, including initial site marking, clearing, access preparation, pad grading, foundations, grounding, major equipment installation, testing, commissioning, punch list completion, and energization readiness.
• Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards across all HV scopes and project phases
• Develop and enforce a 3-week lookahead schedule for HV activities, driving alignment with overall project milestones
• Maintain schedule, budget, and contract compliance while proactively identifying and resolving execution risks
• Verify subcontractor work, materials, and site conditions align with engineering drawings, specifications, and contract requirements
• Provide clear daily reporting on progress, risks, and subcontractor performance to internal and external stakeholders
• Collaborate with Civil, Mechanical, and PV Electrical teams to optimize sequencing and minimize delays
• Coach and develop field teams and subcontractors, fostering a culture aligned with PBM principles and continuous improvement

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Experience working with high-voltage electrical systems, including substations, transmission lines, or interconnection scopes
• Experience working with substation, transmission lines, and/or interconnection civil and foundation scopes
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and specifications
• Experience managing subcontractors and holding partners accountable to contract scope, schedule, and quality expectations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Valid driver's license

What Will Put You Ahead

• Journeyman license or equivalent field leadership experience in high-voltage construction
• Experience with utility transmission and distribution substations or EPC high-voltage construction projects
• OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, and CPR/First Aid certifications
• Utility-scale solar or battery energy storage system (BESS) project experience
• Experience coordinating with utilities and managing interconnection processes
