Job summary

ArchKey Solutions LLC in St. Louis, MO or fully remote is seeking a High Voltage Estimator to prepare estimates, review bids, assess costs, and support cost value analyses and bid processes in alignment with company policies.

The ideal candidate has 1–5 years of electrical construction estimating experience, an associate degree or equivalent, strong NEC knowledge, and proficiency with estimating software such as Accu-bid, ConEst or Blue Beam, plus MS Office.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent work experience in construction management or a related field.
• Minimum 1-5 years of electrical construction experience in estimating, common code requirements, and design/build estimating.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, blueprints, and specifications; solid NEC knowledge.
• Knowledge of project life cycle and basic project management principles.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and detailed-oriented skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Estimate projects and reviews bids for quality and accuracy.
• Collect quotes from subcontractors and prepare cost analyses.
• Review bid documents with project managers and estimators to determine expenses and labor rates.
• Survey job sites to determine cost-effective plans and gather scope information.

About the position

This position is based out of our St. Louis Office or Fully Remote.

As a High Voltage Estimator, you will be responsible for preparation of estimates, proposal and bid reviews, document reviews, cost value analysis, cost and systems reviews, analysis and comparisons, historical evaluations, and bid processes, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations.

Day in the life

• Responsible for the estimating activities of each project for quality and accuracy of work. This includes collecting quotes from subcontractors, performing estimates, scheduling tasks, achieving goals and standards.
• Reviews all bid documents with the project manager and chief estimator to determine the general expenses, labor rates, and other costs associated with each project. Utilizes estimating software to properly estimate projects.
• Surveys job sites as needed for scope of work and to determine the most cost effective and efficient plan possible.
• Composes estimate documents in an accurate, complete, and professional manner. Assists in the interview procurement process, proposal writing for RFPs, bids, and related reports.
• Ensures all estimates and RFPs are fulfilled to the customer’s and the Company’s conditions for satisfaction.
• Works with the purchasing department to reduce the risk of material buyout. Works with the design department on design build and design assist projects to assure an accurate and constructible project. Provides coaching, mentoring, and training to co-workers as needed.
• Consistently makes decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
• Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent work experience in construction management or a related field.
• Minimum 1-5 years of electrical construction experience in estimating, common code requirements, and design/build estimating.
• Skills to read, interpret and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Must have solid knowledge of electrical codes.
• Basic training, experience, and skills in project management. Understanding of the project life cycle.
• Strong process orientation.
• Superior analytical and mathematical skills, conceptual estimating, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including high quality documentation and report preparation.
• Strong problem-solving skills, detail orientation, time management and customer service skills.
• NEC Knowledge a plus.
• Microsoft Office Software use required.
• Estimating software knowledge (Accu-bid / ConEst / Blue Beam) recommended.
• Substation experience a plus.
