NIST's Gaithersburg Facilities Maintenance Division seeks a High-Voltage Electrician to test, install, maintain, and repair 13.8 kV power distribution systems and equipment. This includes transformers, switchgear, and associated controls to ensure safe, reliable electrical power for campus operations.

Responsibilities include inspecting, testing, and repairing high‑voltage equipment, interpreting electrical drawings, and performing tasks per safety standards to support the laboratory environment.

• Inspect, test, and repair transformers, circuit breakers, underground cables, and high‑voltage distribution systems operating at 13,800/7200 volts
• Install, modify, and maintain high‑voltage electrical equipment and control systems
• Use diagnostic tools such as meggers and voltmeters to identify and resolve faults in electrical systems
• Plan and perform installation, maintenance, and repair tasks in accordance with safety standards
• Splice and repair underground cables using appropriate tools and techniques
• Interpret electrical drawings and schematics to guide maintenance and repair work
