Job summary

Navarro Research and Engineering in Oak Ridge, TN, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop high-temperature equipment including molten salt vessels and furnaces. You will translate process needs into manufacturable mechanical designs while coordinating with electrochemical, piping, electrical, controls, procurement, fabrication, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with high-temperature mechanical equipment and molten salt vessels or similar industrial process equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to develop practical designs that can be built, inspected, installed and maintained.
• Strong knowledge of materials, thermal expansion, interfaces and design documentation.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams in safety- and quality-driven environments.
• Experience supporting design reviews, calculations, specifications, drawings, procurement, fabrication or field implementation.

Responsibilities

• Design and support high-temperature molten salt vessels, furnaces, and thermal equipment.
• Develop mechanical design inputs, calculations, equipment specifications, drawings, and fabrication documentation.
• Evaluate materials, thermal expansion, sealing, insulation, and supports; assess maintainability and interfaces.
• Coordinate mechanical design with electrochemical, piping, electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams.
• Support vendor coordination, fabrication oversight, installation, commissioning, and design change resolution.
• Ensure designs meet safety, quality, manufacturability, operability, and schedule requirements.
