  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience is encouraged.
  • Experience delivering to challenging technical objectives through creative problem solving.
  • Experience with propulsion and combustor components and architectures using experiments or modelling/simulation.
  • Strong foundation in fluid mechanics and combustion for advanced propulsion concepts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to present scientific/technical content clearly and publish effectively.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Python and 3-D CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, AutoCAD).

Spectral Energies (SE) is an advanced technology company specializing in leading-edge research in the areas of propulsion, hypersonics, diagnostics, and laser development. The SE research and development (R&D) teams specialize in fundamental and applied engineering and research efforts which focus on areas such as defense propulsion.

Description

SE is seeking exceptional candidates with backgrounds in aerospace/mechanical engineering, propulsion, and/or hypersonics. Duties are diverse and multi-disciplinary to support and conduct applied propulsion engineering and research. Areas include high-speed propulsion & combustion systems, rotating detonation engines, rockets, combined cycle systems, and ram/scram/hypersonic systems.

Summarized Responsibilities Include
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Plan, prepare, and execute R&D efforts, including experimental and/or computational efforts
  • System-level architecture design and evaluation for advanced propulsion systems
  • Analyze and interpret experimental and computational data
  • Communicate and document results with the appropriate stakeholders
  • Document and archive engineering and research findings
Skills & Experience Desired
  • Position is tailorable to experience and background, from early to mid to senior position.
  • Ability to deliver to challenging technical objectives through creative problem solving and innovative thinking
  • Experience with propulsion & combustor components and architectures (including gas turbines, rockets, scramjets, rotating detonation engines or other novel combustors) using experimental and/or modeling & simulation methods
  • Proficient knowledge of fluid mechanics, combustion science, and flight vehicles as applied to advanced propulsion technologies, showcasing a deep understanding of advanced propulsion concepts and methodologies
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills, and the ability to work in a team
  • Proficiency in communicating scientific/technical content in writing, publishing, and oral briefings
  • Competency in data processing (MATLAB, Python, etc.) and 3-D CAD (SolidWorks, Unigraphics/Siemens NX, AutoCAD, etc.) software packages
Qualifications

Advanced degrees, or candidates with a B.S. with additional years of experience, are encouraged to apply.

Compensation

Spectral Energies offers highly competitive compensation commensurate with level of education and years of relevant experience. Compensation includes a full benefits package: a retirement plan (401k) with matching contributions; health, dental, and vision benefits; federal holidays; paid time-off; and a merit-based bonus structure.

Additional Information

Candidates must be US citizens or US permanent residents as required by Department of Defense contracts. This position is full-time, Monday-Friday (40 hrs/wk nominal) with flexible hours. All positions are subject to background investigations and may require obtaining a DOD security clearance.

The position is located on-site at Spectral Energies in Beavercreek, Ohio.
