Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of wrestling fundamentals, coaching strategies, techniques, and instruction.
• Previous wrestling or coaching experience preferred.
• Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with high school students.
• Ability to promote sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, control, and dedication.
• Ability to work cooperatively with the head coach, Activities Director, school staff, students, and families.
• Ability to follow district policies, athletic procedures, and applicable state requirements.
• Ability to maintain required certifications and state qualifications.
• Ability to demonstrate professional and ethical behavior.

Responsibilities

• Assists in coaching individual participants using appropriate wrestling strategies and techniques that can be used to improve the athlete and the activity.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and supports established team standards and procedures.
• Transmits to his/her athletes the understanding of sportsmanship, control, and dedication by example.
• Provides leadership and cooperation in the areas of wrestling methods, techniques, strategies, and instruction.
• Assists with planning and conducting a regular program of practice during the wrestling season.
• Stays up to date with certifications and state qualifications.
• Works closely with the Head Wrestling Coach and Activities Director in scheduling and conducting interscholastic contests.
• Assists with recommendations for the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
• Helps oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which wrestling activities are conducted at all times that students are present.
• Supports enforcement of performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition.
• Assists with transportation arrangements as needed in a timely manner.
• Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, reports, and other paperwork as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Head Wrestling Coach.
