Job summary

Martinsburg High is seeking an Assistant Wrestling Coach to support program administration, planning, and supervision of student-athletes in a competitive West Virginia environment.

The role emphasizes safety, academic progress, and community relations, with duties spanning practice design, equipment oversight, and coordination with the athletic director and head coach. Experience with WVSSAC guidelines is essential.

Qualifications

• Candidates must possess or be eligible for West Virginia Teacher Certification; or WV Coaching Authorization.
• High School Diploma or GED required prior to start of season; ASEP/WVSSAC certs completed.
• Four WVSSAC online courses and safety trainings completed prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the administration of the designated sports program.
• Develop team philosophies and responsibilities with the coaching staff.
• Supervise players and monitor conduct during practices and games.
• Inventory all equipment and manage storage.
• Collaborate with head coach/AD on the program budget.
• Maintain fields and facilities; input maintenance needs.
• Prepare practice and game plans; supervise off-season conditioning.
• Assist in tracking student academic progress and care of injuries.
• Foster positive relationships with players, parents and staff.
• Adhere to WVSSAC rules; attend required clinics and organize supplemental funding.
