Job summary

Beaufort County School District is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional at Hilton Head Island High School. Under direct supervision of the assigned teacher, you will assist in meeting the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities and support IEP implementation.

Responsibilities include preparing materials, supervising students, data collection on progress, and maintaining confidentiality while adhering to district policies.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; OR
• 60 college credit hours from an accredited college or university; OR
• Satisfactory score on Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in preparing student work, workstations, and classroom displays.
• Assist in maintaining a classroom environment favorable to learning and relevant to the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Assists with implementing the student's IEP goals and objectives, modifications and adaptations of curriculum.
• Establishes supportive relationships with students and encourages performance.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, and bus duty.
• Assist with managing student behavior and crisis intervention as needed.
• Assist with transferring to/from wheelchairs and provide ancillary support as necessary.
• Maintain data collection documentation related to student progress.
