Job summary

The Public Schools of Northborough-Southborough seeks a part-time Special Education Coordinator for Algonquin Regional High School. The role leads special education efforts, serves as primary liaison for IEP processes, and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.

Reports to the Student Support Administrator(s)/Principal/Assistant Principal; requires collaboration with building staff and central office to oversee services, referrals, and transition planning.

Qualifications

• Masters Degree in a related field.
• DESE license in a special education area or field (special education administrator license preferred).
• Minimum of three years of experience in the field of special education.
• Knowledge of the TEAM referral process.
• Thorough knowledge of Massachusetts and federal special education regulations.
• Strong organization, communication and conflict management skills.
• Efficient time management to respond within timelines and prioritize responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and coordinate the special education referral and evaluation process, IEP development, and student placement.
• Chair IEP Team meetings for initial evaluations and three-year reevaluations.
• Chair additional IEP Team meetings as needed.
• Collaborate with school leadership to manage caseloads for special education liaisons and service providers.
• Assist administration in developing, coordinating, and overseeing special education services.
• Schedule and facilitate transition meetings for students in collaboration with middle school staff.
• Serve as primary contact for staff and families regarding IEP processes and planning.
• Provide guidance related to state and federal special education laws and regulations.
• Coordinate with service providers to ensure services are delivered and monitored.
• Monitor compliance with state and federal regulations; perform other duties as assigned.
• Ensure consistent attendance for supervision and instruction of students.
