Job summary

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate for Students with Disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped.
• Highly qualified teacher in area of instruction; English preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of subject and effective teaching methods.
• Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must pass criminal history background check and provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status.
• Working knowledge of computers desired.

Responsibilities

• Works to achieve State core curriculum standards and district goals by promoting active learning.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials with individualized and small group instruction.
• Sets objectives in lesson plans and presents to achieve them.
• Assesses student progress toward objectives.
• Maintains student progress records and reports.
• Identifies student needs and collaborates with staff.
• Maintains classroom behavior standards.
• Manages class time efficiently.
• Communicates with parents about student progress.
• Creates assignments and tests that require analytical thinking and factual reproduction.
• Supervises students in activities outside class.
• Pursues ongoing professional development.
• Participates in school planning and committees.
• Uses community resources to enhance instruction.
• Upholds school rules and district policies.
• Performs other duties within the scope of employment and certification.
