Qualifications

• Certification/License: State Certification as a Health Education Teacher.
• Master's Degree preferred for advancement and instruction.
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers Health Education classes consistent with school district goals and objectives.
• Teaches knowledge and understanding of physiology, health and nutrition, anatomy, and biological functions.
• Develops students' concepts in nutrition, food groups, diet, caloric intake, vitamins, and related topics.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in physical educational activities, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.
• Attends seminars, workshops or professional meetings to stay current.
• Organizes and maintains record-keeping, grading, and reporting as required by district procedures.
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Ensures student conduct conforms to school standards and policies.
• Coordinates with other professional staff and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
• Selects and requisitions instructional aids and maintains inventory records.
