Job summary

Abington Friends School is seeking candidates to coach its middle and high school soccer teams, working with the Varsity head coach to strengthen fundamentals and foster athletic growth.

Ideal applicants will have soccer experience, the ability to communicate expectations to players and families, and a commitment to upholding the values of the Athletics Department and the School.

Compensation is determined by the Coaching Stipend Scale and is available by request.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching soccer at school or club level.
• Ability to communicate team expectations to players and families.
• Willingness to collaborate with the Varsity head coach to develop fundamentals.
• Commitment to upholding Athletics Department and school values.
• Previous soccer experience as a player or coach.
• Comfort working with and supporting young adolescents as athletes.

• Assist the Varsity head coach to strengthen fundamental soccer skills.
• Communicate objectives and progress to players and families.

In addition, AFS seeks candidates with:

• an attention to individual skills development appropriate for players with a range of skills
• an ability to communicate team’s expectations and goals to players and families
• a willingness to partner with the Varsity head coach to further the fundamentals of the AFS Girls Soccer or Boys Soccer programs
• a commitment to upholding the values of the Athletics Department and the School
• previous soccer experience as a competitive player or coach
• a comfort working with and appreciation of young adolescents as athletes and individuals

Compensation for this position is determined through AFS’s Coaching Stipend Scale depending on the candidate’s years of experience, years employed by AFS, coaching level and length of season. An approximate stipend range for the position is available upon request.
