Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Texas certificate for the subject and level assigned.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge and demonstrated competency in the subject(s) assigned.
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
• Openness to change and innovation to meet the needs of all students.
• At least one-year student teaching or approved internship.

Responsibilities

• Guide the learning of students toward curriculum goals.
• Align teaching with the District curriculum and available resources.
• Present subject matter according to TEA guidelines and district policy.
• Conduct ongoing assessments and use results to plan instruction.
• Work cooperatively with teachers to modify curricula for special populations.
• Improve instruction with campus and district supervisory support.
• Offer accelerated instruction to students meeting at-risk criteria.
• Collaborate with staff to determine goals, objectives, and methods.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
• Utilize technology as appropriate teaching tools and integrate tech into instruction.
• Plan and supervise assignments of aides and volunteers.
• Maintain open communication with students, parents, and staff.
• Maintain professional relationships and adhere to confidentiality.
• Participate in conferences and respond to parent communications timely.
• Protect students and school property; ensure safety.
• Create a conducive classroom environment and manage behavior.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with regulations.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and reflect on practice.
• Collaborate with colleagues to meet school goals.
