Job summary

Top Score Education is hiring a part-time High School Math Tutor to provide 1-on-1 in-home tutoring in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia. Sessions run after school (4-10 PM) and on weekends, with a minimum commitment of 8 teaching hours per week and travel up to 30 minutes.

You will deliver 90-minute sessions for math, including AP Calculus AB/BC, create customized lesson plans, and maintain positive communication with families while collaborating with our team to monitor progress

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring high school math.
• Experience with AP Calculus AB/BC strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees or related certifications preferred.

The Position

We are hiring a part-time High School Math Tutor to deliver 1-on-1 in-home tutoring in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia. Sessions are scheduled after school (weekdays, 4-10 PM) and on weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver 90-minute private, in-home tutoring sessions for high school math, including AP Calculus AB and/or BC, in homes around the DMV.
• Create customized lesson plans to address individual student needs and learning goals.
• Maintain consistent, positive communication with parents and students to build trust and rapport.
• Collaborate with the Top Score team to track student progress and refine tutoring strategies.

Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring high school math. Experience with both AP Calculus courses (AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC) is strongly preferred.
• Current or former high school teachers or graduate students pursuing a Master's/Ph.D. in Math are strongly preferred.
• Additional expertise in tutoring high school STEM subjects is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees or certifications in education/Math fields preferred.
• Passionate about building positive, supportive relationships with students and families.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, with strong time management and process adherence.
• Excellent communicator, responsive, and committed to collaborative teamwork.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive Pay: Starting at $50-$75/hour, with potential to earn up to $85/hour based on experience and tenure.

Logistical Requirements

Ability to pass a background check (required for working with students).
