Job summary

East Harlem Scholars Academies, part of East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP), seeks a High School Math Teacher. You will work with your grade team and the instructional leadership team to implement curriculum, deliver high-quality instruction, monitor progress, manage IEPs, and cultivate a positive classroom culture to prepare students for college and beyond.

The role requires a minimum of three years teaching Math, a NYS teaching certification, and a Bachelor's degree; Spanish fluency is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of experience teaching Math (Algebra II preferred).
• Bachelor's degree or higher and NYS teaching certification required.
• Spanish fluency preferred (reading/writing/speaking).

Responsibilities

• Teach Math to high school students, primarily student-facing throughout the day.
• Collaborate with grade team and instructional leadership to develop and refine curriculum.
• Track student progress and manage IEPs while fostering a positive classroom culture.

Hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm + occasional out of school time responsibilities

Compensation: (Please note that this is a general range - salaries are determined based on credentials (degree/continuing education & certification) & years of direct, relevant experience. The bottom number in the range is for someone with that degree and 1 year of direct, relevant experience & the top number in the range is for someone with that degree and 25 or more years of direct, relevant experience. EHTP also offers a competitive benefits package (see bottom of posting for details)):

• Masters: $75,000 - $150,000

Who We Are

East Harlem Scholars Academies are community-based Pre-K to 12 public charter schools operated by East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP). EHTP began in 1958 as a children's reading group and has since grown into a multi-site after-school program for traditional public school students and a network of public charter schools focused on significantly increasing the college graduation rate in East Harlem.

About The Opportunity

As a High School Math Teacher with East Harlem Scholars Academies you will be student-facing the majority of the day. You will collaborate closely with your grade team and the instructional leadership team to internalize, and in some cases develop, curriculum; provide high-quality instruction; track and measure student progress, including managing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) of scholars; create a positive classroom and school culture, and to engage in reflection and continuous improvement. As a team we will work together to prepare students with the skills, strength of character, and emotional well-being to excel academically, lead in their communities, and realize their best possible selves.

What Qualifies You

• You have a minimum of three-year’s experience in relevant educational positions teaching Math (experience teaching Algebra II highly preferred).
• You have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher, and hold or are in the process of obtaining a New York State teaching certification for your subject/discipline area (required).
• You have the ability to speak, write, and understand Spanish fluently (preferred).
• You hold yourself to high professional and ethical standards.
• You enjoy and/or have experience working with diverse populations of students and communities.
• You believe that every student can and will learn when provided with a quality education.
• You have demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of traditionally at-risk students.
• You are willing to be flexible in your role and adapt to school and student needs.
• You are committed to continuous improvement and learning through professional development.
